Welcome to ICD’s IT Academy, CompTIA™ A+ Certification Class
ICD’s IT Academy offers a variety of innovative training programs where people with disabilities can earn industry-recognized skills and certification. The CompTIA™ A+ program is a five-month, hands-on training that prepares individuals with disabilities to be entry-level professionals in the rapidly expanding information technology (IT) field.
The program includes fully accessible classroom instruction with a pathway to CompTIA™ A+ certification, work readiness training, and connection to employment opportunities.

Key Components of the Program
An Accessible Curriculum that has been adapted for different learning styles in a physically accessible environment that includes adjustable desks and computers, ergonomic peripherals, noise-canceling headphones, eye-tracking devices, screen readers, and real-time voice transcription. It is tuition-free for qualifying students.
Work Readiness workshops and one-on-one coaching (80 hours) to address topics such as resume development, cover letter writing, networking, mock interviews, and workplace etiquette.
Customer Service skills training (50 hours) to ensure graduates have the skill set needed to be successful in their individual career paths.
CompTIA™ A+ Certification, which is professionally recognized as the industry standard for establishing a career in IT. Test preparation for the certification is included in the program.
Connections to Employers through one-on-one work with Employment Specialists who create individualized career plans and help graduates secure career-track jobs.
Eligibility
You may qualify if you:
Are a New York State resident
Have a documented disability
Are unemployed or underemployed
Have an 8th grade reading and math level on TABE
Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
Are able to commit to the five-month training without missing a class
Are legally authorized to work in the U.S.A.
Other factors may impact your eligibility.

About the CompTIA™ A+ Certification
The CompTIA™ A+ certification is the industry standard for jumpstarting a career in IT and is trusted by employers around the world, including Intel, Blue Cross Blue Shield, HP, Dell, and more.
In the program, participants build foundational knowledge through hands-on learning in the following areas:

Operating Systems
Operational Procedures

Virtualization and Cloud Computing
Graduates who obtain the CompTIA™ A+ certification are prepared for employment as End User Computing Technicians, Computer Support Specialists, Help Desk Technicians, and more. The average salary for someone with a CompTIA™ A+ personnel certification is $51,375, but the salary range is typically $40,000- $60,00.
Salary ranges can vary widely depending on additional skills and the number of years you have spent in your profession.
